Prepare to invest extra hours or even additional manpower, if you want to effectively apply social media to your business strategy.

Social media should be at the top of your list to connect with your customers and create lasting realationships and sales, but it’s really important not to bite off more than you can chew. Determining the “hows” and the “whys” of a social media campaign are the first steps to success.  It’s equally important that you don’t get overwhelmed by a plan you can’t manage and your customers find themselves talking to a void because you just don’t have time to be there for them.

Before developing a strategy, determine how much time you have each week to devote to it.  If time is tight, play to your strengths. A blog might not be the right fit if writing is difficult for you. You can find guest bloggers or consider a video blog or audio podcast.

There are so many ways to reach out. Find the tools that are the best fit for you, your business and your time.
